Community

A local Sunhill company since the 1950s, ASC currently employs 17 people and puts around £450,000 per year into the local economy.

Helping the local community develop an understanding of composting and its potential as a solution to Gloucestershire's landfill reduction is a key priority for the company. But, with its roots in the immediate area, ASC is committed to securing its future with the support of the community. From public open days and guided tours to school visits and public meetings, ASC has an 'open door' policy, encouraging questions and debate so any concerns can be addressed in an open forum – encouraging the community to embrace and understand its business.

Always out to minimise the impact of its business on local residents and the environment, ASC has invested in an external, state-of-the-art odour control system that absorbs obnoxious smells. And, if the company diverts some of its resources from mushroom composting to MOW composting, smells from the site will decrease further.
