Local Company Invests In Reducing Unwanted Smells Set to reduce unwanted smells affecting local residents, Sunhill's Agricultural Supply Company (ASC) has invested in an external, state-of-the-art odour control system. Already up and running and reducing odours created by the company's mushroom compost business, the system – known as 'Mist-Air' – runs around the edge of the site and is naturally biodegradable and 100% safe for people, animals and plant life. Explains John Clay, ASC's Managing Director, "Mist-Air is simply a water-based fog mixed with a neutral or cherry scented Odour Neutraliser that absorbs obnoxious smells 500,000 times faster than water alone. Mist-Air is so fine it floats in the air, attracting and absorbing 'smelly' gases into water particles. As the mist particles increase in weight, they sink to the ground and are naturally biodegraded by bacteria in the soil – preventing unwanted smells." From bakeries to piggeries, Mist-Air Odour Neutraliser is used throughout Europe and the UK as well as across the USA on thousands of sites. Classified by the US Federal Hazardous Substances Act as 'innocuous', with no hazard labelling required, the system is completely harmless, without any side effects. Says John Clay, "Although it's early days, we're delighted with the results. Our aim is always to minimise the impact of our business on the immediate environment and local residents. In fact, we predict that as we divert some of our resources from our current mushroom composting to Mixed Organic Waste composting, the smells from the site will actually decrease further." Mist-Air Odour Neutraliser is circulated around the perimeter of ASC's 13 acre site by a 500 metre length of reinforced hose. Stainless steel atomising jets are installed at nine metre intervals around the perimeter of site to disperse Mist-Air Odour Neutraliser. An automatic windvane system is fitted to ensure the system operates around the clock. ENDS 14 August 2006 |
